Season 50 (10 seasons of OCM visualised)

Written by Time Indaiatuba at 16:45 20/11-2019

Our 10th season in OCM was an interesting one. We made the top division in season 48 which was a huge goal, so then we decided to take a step back a little, shifting the focus from maximising points to targeting specific results.

After losing interest and life getting busy, we had a pretty slow season 49, but came into season 50 with some specific targets: the 2 hill classics in Division 2, Lappi Sea GP, and Grasse - Toulon. With Mark Turnbow turning 35 this year it would probably be his last time to really compete in these races. We recharged his top form and made sure he was backed by a strong team (2 helpers in top form too), but sadly he could only muster 5th place in both races, signalling that his time is definitely over. He is happy to stay around and act as a lead out for our young new sprinter though.

Speaking of which, season 50 saw a huge change in personnel. Sprint captain Kirby Abner was sold and replaced with 22 year-old English sprinter Hadley Childers. This was our biggest transfer so far, costing 870K! But the money will be worth it if he can win some key races in the future. He's hoping to emulate Kirby Abner by winning the green jersey at all three of the grand tours.

Childers had his first taste of classics action just a few days after signing finishing 10th at Mito - Tokyo. He also missed out on points at the division 1 Helsinki GP before achieving a very respectable 2nd at Helsinki GP Mini. He achieved his first win at Samarkand Crossroads, hopefully the first of many.

Rubert Smidt had a quiet season as he spent a lot of it recharging his top form getting ready for the Coppa della Famiglia del Don at the end of the season. Unfortunately, his manager is an idiot so his top form got triggered too early. He still managed 3rd place so will definitely be targeting this race in the future.

We scored 1300 points this season, we could've gained a lot more but skipped a lot of races to try and be in division 2 for the hill classics. Then, towards the end of the season we decided to try and drop down as our main target next season is the Norway Tour SC.

  3 season targets from S47:

   1 - Win a classic - Passed!

2 - Find a new captain who can challenge in tours - Failed (Went with a sprinter instead)

   3 - Break into Division 1 - Passed!

Targets for the next 3 seasons:

1 - Win the SC jersey in Norway Tour and Volta ao Porto

  2 - Win a sprinting classic

  3 - Win a race in Division 1

Finally, here's a graph of Time Indaiatuba's first 10 seasons in OCM. It shows our rise through the divisions, our big jump in season 47 after buying Kirby Abner and our jump into Division 1 in Season 48:
